Civil War Commemoration

Civil War Timeline 1862

The Society, together with the Town, will be hosting a CIVIL WAR COMMEMORATION ON SEPTEMBER 23, 2012. Special appearances by the Connecticut Blues Fife & Drum Corps, as well as the 14^th Regiment, Co.G, Conn. Volunteer Infantry, will be on hand for a march from the High School to the Green. There will be a special reading of Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation and a whole lot more! Refreshments will be available.

Community groups are invited to promote themselves by having table space. Please contact Lisa Flaherty for more information.

Annual Events

Tavern Night (Spring and Fall) Hearth cooking, period recipes, local ale and lager, live fiddle music, costumed staff (including your hosts: Thomas and Abigail Darling). Reservations only. Watch local papers.

Ice Cream Social Free hand cranked ice cream on the porch of the Darling House. July.

"Sylvia's Attic" our annual Tag Sale on the grounds. Rent a space for only $10. Come and sell. Come and buy. Society sells donated treasures and provides LOTS of food (including an array of baked goods). September

Holiday Open House First Sunday in December. A great way to herald in the holidays! Great decrations; equally great refreshments and entertainment!
